Realtor Associate Luis Gonzalez Focuses on Finding Homes for U.S. Military Veterans
Stirling Sotheby’s International Realty associate Luis Gonzalez didn’t have to look hard to find his industry niche.
The former combat Marine, who was decorated for his service in Iraq, assists returning military veterans who want to purchase a new home or possibly sell their home.
“I left the Marine Corps after seven years to take up real estate, but after Sept. 11, I re-enlisted in the Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq with many Central Floridians,” Gonzalez said.
“Since I returned home I have focused on helping veterans buy and sell real estate, and my principal focus has been on helping veterans and their families find suitable homes,” he said.
Military veterans have a major advantage---the Veterans Administration offers military veterans fixed-rate home mortgages with 100 percent financing and no mortgage insurance.
“That’s a major savings, and for many veterans it is the best way to buy a home,” Gonzalez said.
One thing Gonzalez recently discovered is many veterans of earlier service have never used their VA benefits to buy a home.
“The VA mortgage is a wonderful benefit and if it’s used intelligently it can help a veteran and his family get started creating a strong retirement estate,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez and his wife, Jennifer, have helped many veterans buy or sell homes since Luis’ return from Iraq nearly five years ago.
