Pardee Homes has earned new honors for community outreach, energy-thrifty new homes, architectural excellence and workplace safety. All were announced at the 2008 International Building Show (IBS), sponsored annually by the National Association of Home Builders and held this year in Orlando, Florida.
Energy Savings—Pardee Homes earned a Silver Award in the Energy Value Housing Award (EVHA). EVHA honors builders who voluntarily integrate energy efficiency into the design, construction and marketing of their homes. Managed by NAHB’s Research Center, it is operated in partnership with NAHB and the U.S. Department of Energy through the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Pardee Homes’ Silver honor marks its fourth EVHA honor, and is the latest recognition of the company’s ongoing commitment to superior energy savings in design and construction in production housing. For the past seven years, Pardee Homes has built homes that exceed local energy standards. The 2008 EVHA honor was in the hot climate category, and KTGY Group, Inc. is project architect.
“Homebuyers want to do their part for our environment, and we are proud to help with our EnergySmart® program, which provides superior energy-savings standards in every home we build,” said Pardee Homes President and CEO Mike McGee. “We sincerely appreciate this latest honor for our environmental commitments.”
Community Outreach—The National Housing Endowment (NHE) recognized Pardee Homes for exceptional philanthropic and community efforts. With its second annual Builder Achievement Award for Outstanding Community Service, NHE honored just 12 builders nationally. Pardee Homes earned an Honorable Mention for its role as building partner for HomeAid Southern Nevada, as it led and managed the renovation of St. Jude’s, a shelter for abused and abandoned children in Boulder City. Pardee Homes will donate the $1,000 cash prize for its NHE honor to St. Jude’s.
Architecture & Design—The Nationals competition noted Pardee Homes for excellence in design of new homes, model interiors and model complex landscaping. Sponsored by NAHB’s Sales and Marketing Council, The Nationals recognizes superior achievements in new home design and marketing from throughout the United States.
In Ventura County, Cherry Hill in Moorpark Highlands earned a Silver Award for design of a detached home priced from $650,000 to $1 million, for Plan Three. In the same category, Plan 4X of Fairmont in Fair Oaks Ranch in Santa Clarita, earned a Silver Award. Both projects are in master-planned communities created by Pardee Homes’ Los Angeles/Ventura counties division.
In Nevada, Tremezzo in Lake Las Vegas earned Silver honors for the design of detached homes priced from $1 million to $2 million, and for model home interior merchandising; both Silvers were for Plan 2X at Tremezzo. Additionally, Plan 2X was a Regional winner for landscape design and its model merchandising; a Regional honor is bestowed on the top vote recipient within the region for the category. The luxury neighborhood also earned a Gold Award for the landscape design of its model complex.
“We take great pride in the homes we offer in our markets, and we are deeply gratified by recognition in The Nationals,” said Bob Clauser, senior vice president of marketing for Pardee Homes. Clauser said Pardee Homes shares these honors with project consultants Bassenian/Lagoni Architects; interior merchandiser Color Design Art; and landscape architect SJA, Inc.
Workplace Safety—Pardee Homes Senior Safety Director Dave Holt was named runner-up for Home Builder Safety Professional of the Year. The NAHB Safety Award For Excellence program (SAFE), recognizes the achievements of builders and contractors who develop and implement high-quality safety programs as well as government officials and NAHB-affiliated associations who have advanced safety in the homebuilding industry.
