Newport Beach, Calif. (December 17, 2015) – HomeAid America, a building industry
charity and one of the nation’s largest builders of housing for the homeless, has
announced that TRI
Pointe Group, a family of six premium regional homebuilders and
one of the top 10 largest public homebuilders in the United States based on
equity market capitalization, has joined the non-profit’s Corporate Partnership
program as a national sponsor.
HomeAid America CEO Peter Simons said, “TRI Pointe and its family of
homebuilders have been supporters of HomeAid across the country for several
years, building projects for the homeless, volunteering in community outreach
activities, and providing needed funding locally. They are now joining HomeAid America as
Silver Level Corporate Partners, donating $20,000 per year at the national
level. This funding is critical to help
us support our chapters and create new ones to continue our ongoing effort on
behalf of the building industry to help end homelessness in this country.”
We are excited to be further building our partnership with HomeAid America
as a national sponsor,” said Tom Mitchell, chief operating officer at TRI
Pointe Group. “We believe in the idea of community in every sense of the word
and working together with HomeAid on the issue of homelessness epitomizes our
deeper commitment to improving people’s lives.”
TRI Pointe will continue to be represented on the HomeAid America
Board by John Monacci, EVP of Winchester Homes, a member of TRI Pointe Group, in
the Washington DC Area. “I’m humbled by
the opportunity to continue serving HomeAid America on behalf of TRI Pointe
Group and its six homebuilding brands,” said Monacci. “Moving into 2016, we
will continue to look for opportunities to get all of our team members involved
with the organization at both the national and local chapter levels.”
Over the years TRI Pointe Homes has been active with HomeAid in its
markets in California. Pardee Homes has
been very active with HomeAid in California and Las Vegas, together with
Trendmaker Homes in Houston, Winchester Homes in Washington
DC/Virginia/Maryland, and most recently Quadrant Homes in Seattle. They collectively have built 12 HomeAid
projects valued at over $4 million for charities helping the homeless across
the country. They also sit on numerous
local HomeAid chapter Boards of Directors, providing valuable leadership for
the organization.
HomeAid was founded by the building industry in 1989 as a way to give
back to the community by addressing the issue of homelessness. According to the National Law Center on Homelessness,
each year over 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness at some
point. Nearly 1.5 million of them are
children. HomeAid’s program identifies charities
in the community working to help the homeless that need additional facilities
in which to house people and provide programmatic resources such as job skills
training and financial counseling, as well as physical and emotional support. HomeAid
then finds builders who are willing to take on these projects and build them at
a deep discount by enlisting their trade partners to give their time and
materials as in-kind donations.
The HomeAid model has
been proven to be hugely successful and currently has 17 chapters in 12 states,
and in 2015 alone, three new chapters have been started in Puget Sound
(Seattle-Tacoma), Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Hawaii. Nationwide, over 60 new projects are
currently under development.
