Texas employment is rebounding faster than the national average

While the country is slowly gaining traction in economic recovery, Texas is picking up a faster pace. The Monthly Review of Texas Economy for January 2011 reports that Texas gained 231,700 jobs over the past 12 months, an increase of 2.3 percent. The private sector is playing a significant part, with an annual growth rate of 2.7 percent—more than twice the national pace of 1.2 percent during the same period.

The Chili Open raised over $106,000 for The Akron Rotary Club, which brings about 1,700 special needs kids to its summer camp on Portage Lake every year. The campers can spend a week or attend a special respite weekend at the lake. They are looked after by counselors who are specially trained and certified by the YMCA.
