Estrella’s Popular Lakeside Farmers Market Returns

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 /

Goodyear, AZ (September 9, 2011) – Taking advantage of the cooler months to come, Estrella by Newland Communities will once again host a monthly farmers market beginning in October.  The market is a welcome opportunity for the community and visitors to come together and enjoy the convenience of local goods.  The Lakeside Farmers Market at Estrella is open to the public and free of charge.

In days past, the autumn harvest brought together communities who shared the bounty of summer in open-air markets with fresh items picked from the farm that morning.  Estrella anticipates the market will bring the same special atmosphere to attendees.

“We are so pleased to welcome back The Lakeside Farmers Market at Estrella,” said Holly Aguilar, the community’s lifestyle director.  “It’s wonderful to get outside and spend a beautiful Saturday with friends and neighbors while browsing through the booths shopping, seeing unique and specialty items and chatting with the vendors.

Aguilar added that when the farmers market was held at Estrella in the past, visitors enjoyed the idyllic lakeside setting of the master-planned community and are excited to visit again now that the market is returning.

The Lakeside Farmers Market at Estrella will feature locally-grown greens, organic produce, Alaskan seafood, fresh beef, pork, fresh eggs, Artisan breads, cakes, pastries, pastas, fresh salsas and more.  Local artisans will display their handcrafted pottery, metalwork, jewelry and gifts.  Vendors will offer favorite fares as you shop, including homemade tamales, hot dogs, and kettle corn.

One of the most requested vendors “Don the Knife Sharpener” will attend the market each month to sharpen knives, scissors, sheers, chisels and any other tools from around the house that have “lost their edge,” while visitors enjoy the sights and sounds of the market and the gorgeous views of the North Lake and the Sierra Estrella Mountains.

Estrella is the perfect setting for the farmers market.  A friendly community with over 3,700 homes, resort-style amenities, exemplary schools, open space and mountain trails, the area continues to attract families, couples, and singles in all of life’s stages.

The Lakeside Farmers Market is every second Saturday, October through April from 10am – 2pm in the Estrella community in Goodyear.

The 2011—2012 farmers market Saturdays are  October 8, 2011; November 12, 2011; December 10, 2011; January 14, 2012; February 11, 2012; March 10, 2012 and April 4, 2012.
