Dad moves closer to his kids; finds ideal home at Mill Creek

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line—or, in the case of Chris Gatto, a new home at Mill Creek that shortens the distance between him and his twin boys.


Gatto, 44, a father of nine-year-old twin sons Andrew and Zachary, had been living in Naperville. But on visitation days, the drive time to pick up his boys in St. Charles at their mother’s home or from school was proving to be too long: 50 minutes on a good day with light traffic. Gatto yearned to be closer in proximity to his children and to have more time to spend with them, too.


After shopping for a new construction home, Gatto located the ideal residence in the Oakmont neighborhood at Mill Creek in Geneva, Shodeen Homes’ master-planned golf course community. It was a move-in-ready model home—and it was only a 12-minute drive away from his sons.

The home would now comfortably accommodate Gatto’s new expanded family, including his girlfriend Mimi and her three older children.


Gatto purchased the model, sold his Naperville house in no time flat and took moved in late March. He said his favorite amenity, besides the home’s spacious family room and adjacent island kitchen with eat-in area, is the basement “man cave,” where he can get work done in privacy in his home office when he’s not watching movies and sporting events with his family.


“This home has everything you could want—a formal living room and separate dining room, a first-floor bedroom, large walk-in closets in all the bedrooms, a seating area with a bay window in the master suite, and an oversized standing shower, soaker tub and separate water closet in the master bath,” said Gatto. “Also, we’re kitty corner from a community path where we can walk our dog Chloe—and a playground/nature area where the kids can play basketball, baseball, soccer or tennis.”


Gatto also appreciates the warm hospitality provided by his neighbors as well as the numerous perks of being homeowner at Mill Creek, which features two premier golf courses providing breathtaking views at Tanna Golf Club and the Mill Creek Golf Course.  A Village Center offers on-site retailers, such as a grocery market, dry cleaners and a dentist. An outdoor swimming pool and clubhouse are also within the community. Mill Creek school age children attend schools within Geneva Community Unit School District #304.
