McCaffrey Homes Receives Gold Nugget Award of Merit at Pacific Coast Builders Conference for ‘Tuscan Castle

FRESNO, Calif. -- McCaffrey Homes won one of the most prestigious awards in the homebuilding industry June 26 at the gala Gold Nugget Awards Presentation at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference in San Francisco before a crowd of 1,200.

The “Tuscan Castle” model at Madison Place was honored with a Gold Nugget Award of Merit in the “Best Single-Family Detached Home under 2,500 square feet” category.  The competition honors creative achievements in architectural design and land use planning for residential, commercial and industrial projects in the 14 Western states and from foreign countries. This year’s 45th annual competition attracted 520 entries.

“We are delighted to receive an honor of this magnitude,” said Lauren McCaffrey, vice president of marketing for the company.  “The Gold Nugget is said to represent the ‘Best in the West.’ It is a tribute to the smart design and craftsmanship that goes into every McCaffrey home.  The entire design and construction team deserves recognition.

This is the second year in a row that McCaffrey Homes has won a Gold Nugget honor.  Last year, the local firm received an Award of Merit in the “best office/professional building” category for its landmark corporate headquarters, located at the intersection of Van Ness Boulevard and Herndon Avenue in northwest Fresno.

McCaffrey continued, “McCaffrey Homes is particularly grateful to architect Kevin Crook, of Kevin L. Crook Architect, Inc., of Irvine, who designed the single-story residence that is highlighted by an impressive rotunda-style entry,” she said.

“The home was designed with maximum flexibility that has been extremely attractive to homebuyers,” said Crook. “The Tuscan Castle plan is available as a three or four bedroom home with an informal ‘great room’ or as a three-bedroom home with a formal dining room. The home was designed for flexibility, enabling it to appeal to the broadest possible market.”

The various configurations of the home meet the needs of first-time homebuyers, empty nesters and families who want a private guest suite. The Tuscan Castle model was also honored this year with The Nationals Gold Award, a competition sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders.

In addition to earning homebuilding industry plaudits, the design has proved very popular with homebuyers.  The Tuscan Castle is one of five floorplans available at Madison Place, which offers homes in northwest Fresno and Clovis, at prices starting in the mid-$200,000 range.
