Del Sur Makes Season Merry and Bright for Residents

Monday, December 16, 2013 / Del Sur

SAN DIEGO (Dec. 14, 2013) – Twinkling trees, seasonal eats, snow, music and a neighborhood lights contest drew families out of their homes on Dec. 6 and 7 for Del Sur’s annual Del Sur Lights event. The festive two-day event is one of many activities planned for residents of the San Diego new-home community each year.

“Del Sur Lights is about making memories while sipping hot chocolate, sharing homemade goods with neighbors, and walking around to check out the lights and décor on your street,” said Bill Ostrem, president at Del Sur. “There’s nothing like feeling connected to your community, especially during the holidays, and this event makes it possible.”

The two-day event started with the community’s second annual neighborhood lights contest, judged by a strict panel of fifth graders from Del Sur Elementary School. The students—who all exceeded their reading goals—were invited to judge the contest in recognition of their hard work. The excited panel awarded the Starr family at Del Sur, based on originality, brightness and holiday spirit. The winner of the contest was announced the following night at the Del Sur Ranch House.

On night two, residents also enjoyed fresh snow, elves, holiday trees and décor, music, festive eats, crafts and more.

Next month, the community will kick off 2014 with Del Sur Snow Day, where families are invited to snow-sled and enjoy other wintertime activities.

All events at Del Sur are organized by the Del Sur Community Services Council. To view photos of community events, visit “DelSurLiving” on Facebook, or “DelSurSanDiego” on Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest.
