Monday, October 04, 2010 / new homes, greater valley group

West Point, Ga. –The Southeast’s newest hunting preserve, Twisted Pine Hunting Preserve is now open for business. The preserve, located just minutes from the masterplanned new home community, Quail Run in Lanett, Ala., features more than 2,100 acres of prime hunting land in east central Alabama and western Georgia.

The preserve includes more than 1,700 acres in Chambers County, Ala., and 400 acres in Harris County, Ga. for quality deer and turkey hunts.

Two, three and four day hunting packages are currently available. Fees include accommodations at cabins on the Georgia portion of the hunting preserve which is adjacent to the Chattahoochee River. A 10-acre lake a few feet from the front deck of the cabins is conveniently located for those interested in fishing during their stay. Cabins can house up to six hunters with two bedrooms that include two twin beds and one full bed in each room. Towels and linens are provided as well as satellite television. A fully equipped kitchen and outdoor grill are also available for guests. Cabins are available for turkey and deer hunting, respectively.

Deer hunting season for archery in Georgia began Sept. 11, and rifle season will begin Oct. 16. Both end on Jan. 1. Alabama’s deer hunting season begins Oct. 15 for archery and Nov. 20 for rifle hunts. Both end on Jan. 31.

Managed by wildlife biologist, Kyle Farner, an avid lifelong hunter with a degree in Fishery, Wildlife and Conservation Biology from Colorado State University, this exclusive property is closely managed and monitored. Controlled burns, supplemental feed, mineral stations, food plots, predator control and selective harvests insure long-term success in providing quality, mature bucks, gobblers and dove for avid sport hunters.

“We are very excited to be open for business and are looking forward to a great first year,” said Farner. “I feel that we are close enough to Atlanta, Columbus, Montgomery, Huntsville and Chattanooga to appeal to a wide range of hunting enthusiasts looking for somewhere new to hunt.”
