Developer David Barry Accepts Award From NJ Secretary of State

 

LONG BRANCH, NJ – Pier Village, the Victorian-inspired mixed-use development situated along the oceanfront in Long Branch, NJ, has been honored with a 2009 New Jersey Governor’s Tourism Award.

David Barry, President of Applied Development Company, Pier Village’s developer, accepted the prestigious award from New Jersey Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells and New Jersey Travel Industry Association Chair Marilou Halverson at the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism held April 2nd at Trump Marina in Atlantic City.

Pier Village was among ten organizations in the state that were honored from what tourism officials said was an unprecedented number of nominations.   Judges consisted of tourism professionals representing academia and private business associations throughout the state. The annual awards honor individuals and organizations that have contributed to the experience of visitors and the quality of life of residents.

 

“We’re delighted that Pier Village was recognized for its considerable contribution to New Jersey tourism as a sophisticated destination that consistently draws out-of-state visitors and residents to the Long Branch oceanfront,” said David Barry, who owns Hoboken, NJ-based Applied Development and Ironstate Development with his brother, Michael Barry.

“The successful realization of this project as an upscale shopping, dining, entertainment and living destination represents the vision, collaboration and commitment to excellence of a public and private partnership cohesively forged for the good of the community at large.”

The $400 million Pier Village community sits on a 16-acre site and features 536 luxury rental residences, more 100,000 square feet of boutique shops and restaurants, a rebuilt boardwalk and refurbished beach, the elegant members-only Le Club beach club, several oceanfront restaurants including Avenue, and an outdoor festival plaza which hosts year-round public events.  Travel & Leisure Magazine named it one of the “20 Great American Beaches" in its July, 2007 issue.

To visit the community, take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 105. Proceed on Route 36 East to Rt. 71 South. Continue on Rt. 71 through 3rd traffic light onto Cedar Ave. On Cedar Ave. make a left onto Ocean Blvd. Proceed for 1.5 miles then make a right onto Laird St. Follow signs to Leasing Center.
